Contest at beyond the veil

Posted by Dayna on December 10th, 2008

The authors at the Beyond the Veil blog decided to get into the Christmas spirit and give stuff away. I know, I thought it was a great idea, too. I can say that, it wasn’t my idea. Nope, that little brainstorm is entirely the brainchild of Sharon Cullen, who is also being awesome enough to organise it all.

So, three cheers for Sharon!

The contest will run from December 10 until noon (EST) on December 21 (The Winter Solstice - we are paranormal authors!). There will be 12 winners, and all you have to do to win is comment.
Here’s a list of what we’re giving away:
Download of one of Carolan Ivey’s titles, unless the winner has read all of them, then a download of an SP title of their choice
Bath and Body Works Giftset from Kaye Chambers
Handmade giftbag and a dowload of any one title by Jody Wallace
Download of Dream Walk by Meg Allison
Download of With Nine You Get Vanyr by Jean Marie Ward
PDF download of any one title in Biana D’Arc’s backlist
Download of any one title in Dayna Hart’s backlist
Download of Heart of the Sea by Sela Carsen

Download of any one title in Sharon Cullen’s backlist

Decision

Posted by Dayna on November 7th, 2008

I have assigned the kids numbers instead of names, both in real life and online. No more Bookworm, Tank, Monkeyboy and Buballoo. No one can remember which one is which. They’re just The Firstborn, 2, 3, and 4 (aka Baby, because it explains things which might otherwise be odd, like the fact he likes to chew on Hub’s workboots. Ok, bad example, as that is still odd, and completely inexplicable.)

Verybad NoGood Day

Posted by Dayna on November 6th, 2008

I wanted to clean the house. Really, I did.

Only every room I walked into was more disheartening than the one before. I decided to tuck in and empty the built-in hutch, so I could reorganize the dishes. (Yes, this might have been passive agressive, super-secret code for: My new dishset is on sale, let’s make room for new dishes). I went and found boxes in the Back Room o’ Doom. I ignored that it is almost entirely garbage out there, and found three empty boxes.

I filled one with shoes. No, not from the hutch, from the hallway. I had to put my shoes away that I had been wearing, and there was no room.  Ok, that only took five minutes. No problem. Climb up on the chair so I can reach the top shelf of the hutch and….

WAAAAAAAAH

Ok. Here bub, have one of your babyfood cookies. Ok.

back up on the chair.

*whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine*

Dawg needs out to pee.
Bub needed a bottle
Kids got home from school
phone rang
and rang.

I give up.

Today’s rant brought to you today by the letters J and W.

I can only assume it was my monthly visit. No, not that one. THe one from the two little old ladies from a certain religion who have decided my immortal soul is in their hands. The ones who visit once a month, despite my haggard self answering the door looking like I’d rather be anywhere else but at the door. (And I would. Go fig.)

It’s been a long week. I haven’t slept much. Before the conference, I was too nervous. AT the conference, I wanted to hurl a lot. And since I got home? Hub had a rough night sleeping, which meant the bed bounced (for all the wrong reasons) as he flopped around trying to get comfortable. Last night, I went to bed early, crashed hard - and was joined by a 4 year old around 2 in the morning.

So today, around 1130, BabyBoy was watching Bear in the Big Blue House, the other kids were at school, and I…I drifted to sleep. I could still hear him, and was listening for any major fussing, but he was mostly just yell-talking at Bear. I was quite happily asleep.

Until tap tap tap tap. Someone knocking. Oookee. No, I’m not getting up. Tap tap tap tap. Nope. Not doing it. I lift a little way to peek at my front window, checking, if you want the truth, to make sure there were no lights or sirens. Nope. Just a freakin FACE, peering INTO my HOUSE.

Granted, they could likely hear bub fussing, the TV on…my windows are crap, so they could likely hear it all. Still…they looked in my window?! Seriously? *sigh* I know, I know, I shouldn’t be so aghast, but I am.

And I’m still mad they woke me up.

It would have served them right if I HAD answered the door.

Fortunately, hub bought me chocolate last night. I’ve hunkered down with a few pounds pieces. I’ll sulk awhile and then hope Bub has a nap. It’ll likely line right up for the next time Dawg needs to pee.

Test?

I just updated the site, and changed the look up a bit…and can no longer find my blog.

*sob*

Can you hear me now?

Update…

Posted by Dayna on September 11th, 2008

I hate the twitter feed as my blog posts. :( They look weird, and I don’t like it. I’m going to figure out how to put it in my sidebar instead, and then post once a week on my blog.

*happy*
